The Retrospective of an Ordinary Family

2020 – Ongoing

By focusing on capturing portraits of my own family, I have discovered profound layers of human suffering. It amazes me how suffering can manifest itself in our appearances and how the dynamics within a family can shape our life stories. Suppressed emotions manage to find avenues of expression, untold narratives scream for attention, and finally, they yearn to be released. At the end of the day, they linger, waiting for an opportunity to break free. Photography has placed me in a position of self-discovery, where the medium itself acts as a mirror reflecting my emotions. It blurs the lines, making it challenging to see the images through my camera lens as tears well up in my eyes. It’s a vulnerable experience that connects me deeply with the subjects I photograph, allowing me to capture their stories with authenticity and empathy. It’s a reminder that we all carry untold stories within us, waiting to be seen and heard. This process enriches my perspective and nurtures my exploration of the world around me.
