Sara

2011

Following the 2009 presidential election in Iran, numerous individuals dissatisfied with the election outcome began protesting, forming what came to be known as the Green Movement. Tragically, many lost their lives, got arrested, or were forced to leave the country. Among them was my 23-year-old colleague-turned-beloved friend, Sara. In May 2011, I journeyed to Nevşehir, a small Turkish city where Sara and her two sibilings temporarily stayed while seeking asylum on her way to the US. That marked our final meeting.
